Interactive Voice response System is geared towards providing information about the services provided to the public or Kenyan citizens by the Government. This is departure from I use the traditional methods of providing this information like the media or bulletins or physical enquiries from where the services are provided. It is a mobile based application where the citizens can get this information. The system has been motivated by the high number of citizens (over 65%) with the access to the mobile phones as well as the changing communication channels.
This system has avoided other technological channels like the use of the internet whose penetration is still very low coupled with the phobia it elicits especially at different levels of ours society. It therefore means that a huge chunk of the population is able to get information about the services that are offered by the Government using the mobile platform. Traditionally this information has either been gotten through making telephone calls, asking other people or worse still traveling to the Ministry's Headquarters to seek for this information. This is not only inefficient but costly especially on the part of the citizens.
The system can be accessed by use of any of the mobile providers by calling specific numbers where one can get all the information from many of the services offered to the citizens at normal calling rates.
