In the ongoing efforts to enhance the skills of Government Employees on the use of ICTs and the Internet, today, the Directorate of E-Government has kick-started training for 75 Civil Servants from across various Government Ministries/Departments. The training is taking place at the Institute of Advance Technology (IAT) Thika Road Campus.This trainings seek promote the use of modern tools and skills in ICT, towards the improved delivery of government services. The Directorate of E-Government targets to train upto 750 civil servants from across government. Already, 200 police officers and 170 civil servants have benefited from this program. The five days course will cover the use of Word Processors, a Spreadsheet, MS Windows, Databases, The Internet and Emails.
The course is intended to ensure that graduates are computer literate and competent in use of Computers, in their day-to-day work in their respective government offices. The participants will be able to use computer applications such as word processors to prepare and produce well-formatted and presentable documents; use spreadsheet and databases for efficient record keeping and calculations; comfortably use email and the internet for communications; as well have basic understanding of the operating system and how to keep their computers working well.

The course, among others, will play a key role in making effective use of ICTs and the Internet across Government possible and ensure that the Civil Service workforce is technologically empowered to serve better. For more information, check in the local dailies.
