e-Government Core-Functions

  • Formulate and review e-government strategy and policy and monitor its implementation
  • Advise the cabinet on e-Government issues
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of e-Government programmes and plans in ministries and counties
  • Develop and manage strategic systems including shared services and infrastructure, data, security, data centres and electronic services of the Government of Kenya.
  • Develop and enforce strategic ICT security initiatives within Government including oversight of incident response
  • Develop and enforce ICT standards to promote interoperability of systems and data and cost-effective use of ICT infrastructure and services
  • Manage the implementation of ICT programmes in Government
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation and use of ICTs and recommend suitable enhancements;
  • Undertake research and innovation on e-Government services
  • Oversee implementation of capacity building initiatives on e-Government.
